Hotels

Horizon Hotel

Esplanade, Ayr KA7 1DT, UK – 01292 264384

Had a comfy night. The walls are pretty thin so can hear a lot but I was lucky!! Good breakfast n lots of choice. Helen helped me out alot.

Fantastic hotel staff are amazing, food is really good and good price. Kid friendly and right on the beach side

Western House Hotel

66 Craigie Rd, Ayr KA8 0HA, UK – 01292 294990

The food was well prepared, however the stay was alright. It's super fancy when you walk in towards the reception area, however the rooms leave a bit to desire. The decor does not carry over. I can understand the marketing is probably more for equestrians, however it would be nice if the themes didn't end just in the common areas. The grounds were just as beautiful as the lobby, but once again, the rooms didn't carry over the same theme.

The Western House did us proud yesterday at my nephew's Wedding. A beautiful venue. The staff were excellent, courteous and professional and the food delicious. We all had a great day.Thank you โ™กโ™ก

Fairfield House Hotel

12 Fairfield Rd, Ayr KA7 2AS, UK – 01292 267461

I stayed here in 2002, a beautiful place and certainly a diamond. The staff was exceptional, absolutely lovely people. My wish is to come back and live the good life with this staff. Attentive and most of all, loving. How many guest host hotels can one say about that? I'm American with Scottish roots. Lovely people, wish my family never left. Trust me, I will be back to the Fairfield House. I now have health issues, I know they'll look after me. I love this place, I love Ayr! Now, 15 years later, I want to come back to Ayr and certainly the Fairfield. My health is poor, I know they'll take the best of care of me. My wish is to die on Scottish soil, land of my ancestors. I know my family in California may think that a bit morbid, my dream is Scottish pipers piping my way to my final resting place. Cremate me, scatter my ashes over Scotland and Northern Ireland. That's where our people came from. You hushed me, never gave me a listen. Now, I leave you with our legacy. Thank you, Fairfield House for letting me leave this note. And I shall return to your beautiful, warm hotel. I loved it then, I know I'll love it now.You treat your guests with the utmost respect and Scottish humour! "You want me to Hoover your room" when obviously the vacuum is not a "Hoover." Aye, no matter, just clean up the crumbs of whatever sweet I indulged myself with I adore your housekeeping staff.

Stayed here for one night. Lovely hotel. Staff really friendly. Room quite large. One drawback there was no view out of room at all . Breakfast lovely. Would stay here again.

Boswells

Great food, so so prices, lovely staff. It's a wee bit shabby but cosy.

First class macaronie the best i have ever tasted

Waterfront Ayr

4 S Harbour St, Ayr KA7 1HZ, UK – 01292 280212

Waterfront. We had lunch there today. I had mussels, which were delicious. I must admit my choice looked the best, but there were no complaints from the others. However, I thought, personally, the portions looked a bit small. But that aside, it was a lovely lunch in great surroundings. The service was good, apart having to wait some time for our first drinks. I'm being a bit picky but this did not detract from a lovely occasion. We'll go again.

First courses lovely. I had chicken in tarragon cream sauce for main which was lovely. My husband had the liver and onions, he started to eat it but after a couple of mouthfuls found it to be red. We told the waitress and she reported it to the chef whereby he said next time ask for it well done.....you should never eat liver red!! Wrong answer Mr Chef!

The West Kirk

58a Sandgate, Ayr KA7 1BX, UK – 01292 880416

It's a Wetherspoons, but a good one, not a bad one. An old church that's been fairly refitted and turned into a spacious dining and drinking hall in Ayr, attentive staff, lively nights and good mix of customers. Good for an inconspicuous drink when at a loose end, or a cheap night out.

Very busy pub service quick and staff friendly. Nice crowd mostly in for a meal and a drink food good quality and good size portions. Toilets a bit difficult to get to up a flight of stairs but clean. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Abbey Cottage Bed and Breakfast

48 Ayr Rd, Prestwick KA9 1RR, UK – 01292 478029

Really friendly atmosphere. This B&B really has the personal touch from the owners Ellen & Jim. If you are up for a bleather Ellen will not let you down. Communal breakfast table lets you get to know what other visitors arev up to. It has a shared shower room, but I have never found that an issue any time that I have stayed. It is a good 5 minute walk into the centre of Prestwick. I can highly recommend Abbey Cottage.

Lovely convenient place to stay. Very hospitable.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Ayr Craigie Gardens Caravan Club

Craigie Rd, Ayr KA8 0SS, UK – 01292 264909

Absolutely love this site and the wardens who come to watch over the site to make sure we all have a great time whilst there. Ayr council should keep it there as it helps to bring business into Ayr so much so that my husband and I always make sure we buy whilst there to help the town's economy. Highly recommend this site

Love the site, it's our second home. Wardens are fantastic and the location is perfect. If we could site our caravan here we would in a heartbeat. It's a shame South Ayrshire Council want the land back. This will be a major blow to the regulars who enjoy this site and even more so to the local economy that will be missing out on the extra income that we bring.

Crofthead

Crofthead Caravan Park, Ayr KA6 6EN, UK – 01292 263516

Got back home from Crofthead holiday park yesterday and we wish we could of stayed longer. Excellent accommodation, them lodges have everything you need and are well designed. The staff on the park were very friendly especially Lewis who was always very busy but still made an effort to talk. It was great for us all to get into the hot tub after days out walking and seeing various places like Culzean Castle which is only 30 mins drive away from the park as is heads of Ayr Farm Park which is great for kids, we're you can feed animals yourself. The beach was nice too so we'll definitely be looking to come back here at some point next year.

What a gem of a holiday park, quiet and friendly. 10/10..
