Hotels

Travelodge Ayr

1 Highfield Dr, Ayr KA8 9SH, UK – 0871 984 6321

Was working away and this was my digs.... Clean and friendly hotel happy with the service and staff... Would recommend.... Thankyou for your service 😁

Unfortunately the hotel we were due to stay at for 2 nights had a power cut so they advised us of other hotels in the area. We rang Travelodge yesterday around 5pm to book a room for last night and the lady who booked the room for us booked it for the 31st March after specifically telling her we required the room for last night! She took the money off my card and we did not realise what she had done until we got to the Travelodge in Ayr when the gentleman on reception could not find our booking! The lady also got the wrong postcode for our address after me spelling it out for her phonetically and she got that wrong too!! Absolutely shocking service! Thank goodness for the lovely gentleman on reception at the Travelodge in Ayr who waited for ages patiently to get through to Central Reservations to cancel the incorrect booking for 31st March and refund my card & re-book a room for last night which was half the price!!! Thank goodness for competent staff like the gentleman on reception unlike the lady who clearly did not use her active listening skills or more to the point, did not posess any!!

Craigie Guest House

Mercure Ayr Hotel

Dalblair Rd, Ayr KA7 1UG, UK – 0844 815 9005

Very nice hotel. Rooms were a tad small however I am a large individual, but for the price definitely worth it. Only complaint I had was the low water pressure. Rebecca at the front desk was very kind and extremely helpful in locating dinner for the evening.

Good facilities. Great room on top floor with beautiful views of the Ayrshire coast.very convenient for town centre and smashing pub next door.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

Waterfront Ayr

4 S Harbour St, Ayr KA7 1HZ, UK – 01292 280212

I loved the fact that I could have dinner in the sunny terrace, with a view to the river and the sea. Waitresses are really nice and smiling. Starter was perfect (blend of sea food) as for flavours and size. Even bread was delicious. However, the main course was a classic burger that had quite dry meat and it lacks sauces and flavour... I was disappointed. Still I like it and recommend it especially when sun is here ;)

We had dinner on Monday 14th may and we were served by Rebeca and the manager. They have been nothing but knowledgeable and delightful; the food was just amazing, portions more than fair and the price super competitive! The place itself is very pleasant and they are clever enough to choose good music and to play it at a normal volume so that it doesn’t discourage conversation (not all places do the same unfortunately). Great value for money, will definitely be back next time we are in Ayr!

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Craig Holm Bed and Breakfast

7 Queen's Terrace, Ayr KA7 1DU, UK – 01292 261470

Great place at a great rate. Stayed in room 1- plenty spacious with a good sized bathroom. Breakfast was made-to-order, but they do ask you the night before, so don't be caught off guard like we were. It was a very tasty breakfast! Room looked recently renovated, and very clean.

Lovely B&B. Room 2 is very spacious and has a great sea view. The full Scottish breakfast was very tasty. The hosts are very nice and friendly. Great service and would recommend this accommodation. Not suitable for wheelchair users.

Abbey Cottage Bed and Breakfast

48 Ayr Rd, Prestwick KA9 1RR, UK – 01292 478029

Really friendly atmosphere. This B&B really has the personal touch from the owners Ellen & Jim. If you are up for a bleather Ellen will not let you down. Communal breakfast table lets you get to know what other visitors arev up to. It has a shared shower room, but I have never found that an issue any time that I have stayed. It is a good 5 minute walk into the centre of Prestwick. I can highly recommend Abbey Cottage.

Lovely convenient place to stay. Very hospitable.

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
