Hotels Ayr

Fairfield House Hotel

12 Fairfield Rd, Ayr KA7 2AS, UK – 01292 267461

Our room had not been modernised but was still a lovely, clean large suite. Double bed, sofa bed & still plenty room for furnishings & 4 people + luggage. Only downside - very small window with foliage outside so no natural light. Staff friendly & leisure facilities a bonus. Breakfast is great - good choice of hot & cold food.

Very posh and interesting hotel. Very old but nice. The hotel has a strange layout, took me a few minutes to find my room. I had to walk into town and it only took 10 minutes so that's a plus. There was a few of us that went and I was lucky to get one of the big room but some are on the small side from ehat I have been told. When I said the room was big I mean it was huge, biggest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Breakfast was included and was delicious. Lost a star because the room was freezing cold. They did provide a additional heater but no extra blankets. Would stay again.

Carlton Hotel Prestwick

187 Ayr Rd, Prestwick KA9 1TP, UK – 01292 476811

Was there last night and had a truly amazing time. Food was outstanding, really delicious with good portion sizes. The brilliant staff looking after our party of six is what made it even more wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. The staff were incredibly attentive, polite and extremely happy. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as it's not only the positives I've mentioned, it's also a beautiful hotel and restaurant that holds functions such as weddings etc. You will most certainly be taken good care of here and have a fantastic time too. Thank you all for a fabulous evening.

Stayed at the hotel for a tribute night, lovely meal and great entertainment. A lovely place, spotless and the bedroom was very nice with a very comfy bed. Will definitely be back.

Ayr Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

Boswells

4 Boswell Park, Ayr KA7 1NP, UK – 01292 289001

Went in for bar dinner. Food was good value and service prompt. Drink price reasonable. Good chat from barman.

Visited here for coffee and cake, lovely big cups of coffee and fresh hot scones from the oven, friendly service.

Waterfront Ayr

4 S Harbour St, Ayr KA7 1HZ, UK – 01292 280212

I loved the fact that I could have dinner in the sunny terrace, with a view to the river and the sea. Waitresses are really nice and smiling. Starter was perfect (blend of sea food) as for flavours and size. Even bread was delicious. However, the main course was a classic burger that had quite dry meat and it lacks sauces and flavour... I was disappointed. Still I like it and recommend it especially when sun is here ;)

The food here is simply stunning, a fantastic menu choice and a desire to taste all the dishes. Certainly a reason to attend again and again. The decor is very modern and welcoming and with a high level of attentiveness from the staff makes this a joy to visit. Being in a great Waterside location this venue ticks every box.

Smuggler's

98 Main St, Prestwick KA9 1PA, UK – 01292 678300

Very friendly pub. And as previously mentioned our dog was also made very welcome with a drink and a chew bar. please also note that although toilets were basic they were spotless and had a lovely smell of baby powder in them.

Reasonably priced friendly lively pub but no grub!!

Beautiful house, great breakfast, buy the best of all the kindness of Ellen and her husband. They even take me to the train station as it was raining! Hoping to stay there again! Thank you so much Ellen!

Beautiful home, amazing friendly & accommodating host. Breakfast was delicious. Will definitely be back.

Craig Holm Bed and Breakfast

7 Queen's Terrace, Ayr KA7 1DU, UK – 01292 261470

Great place at a great rate. Stayed in room 1- plenty spacious with a good sized bathroom. Breakfast was made-to-order, but they do ask you the night before, so don't be caught off guard like we were. It was a very tasty breakfast! Room looked recently renovated, and very clean.

Lovely B&B. Room 2 is very spacious and has a great sea view. The full Scottish breakfast was very tasty. The hosts are very nice and friendly. Great service and would recommend this accommodation. Not suitable for wheelchair users.

Appin Guest House

11 Carrick Rd, Ayr KA7 2RA, UK – 01292 283219

Stayed overnight as was attending a wedding at a nearby venue. The B&B is lovely and I recommend staying here. Excellent service and breakfast was tasty, nothing was a hassle. Well worth more than they are charging.

Absolutely beautiful home and the owner is just lovely. The rate for overnight plus breakfast was £55. The cooked breakfast was very good quality and we were well tended to. We were so impressed that we gave £65.

You can find excellent very well priced accommodation around Ayr using Airbnb.

We run an Airbnb bed and breakfast down in Devon (house below) - and we have stayed in Airbnb accommodation all over the place. You can find the wonderful little gems with totally committed hosts and really frightful places which you put down to experience! You absolutely have to read the details of each listing - and read the reviews! Basically use Airbnb wherever we go - but we do do our homework!

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Ayr Campsites and Caravan Parks

Ayr Craigie Gardens Caravan Club

Craigie Rd, Ayr KA8 0HF, UK – 01292 264909

Lovely site with great friendly helpful friendly staff. Nice short riverside walk into Ayr. We shall return.

Nice well kept site. Wardens take the time to acknowledge visitors when passing (which I have found wardens rarely do!).Dissappointing that dog owners allow their dogs to foul the site albeit they clean up after. Should be exercising dogs offsite.

Crofthead

McNairston, Ayrshire, Ayr KA6 6EN, UK – 01292 263516

Check in was a shambles. A young boy doing laundry who couldn't help, ended up 3 people were waiting to check in. Check in time was stated 4pm so thought they would be prepared. The site itself is so peaceful and had lovely views. Very tidy and clean inside. Everything was within a 10 minute drive, ie: beach, supermarkets etc... if it's a peaceful relaxing holiday your after, this is the place to go...

Spectacular views .Well kept park in beautiful surroundings. Lovely helpful owners.
